I purchased the small one for my Guinea pigs for when I have them outside. I put this in their large cage outside so they always have shelter. I do line the bottom with newspaper and hay in case they go potty while inside. The bottom is not attached, so can be removed to scrub clean if needed. The roof is also not attached so you can remove the top to get your pet out with ease if this is needed. This dog house has legs to keep it off the ground so it doesn't absorb dampness from the ground to ruin the wood. The legs help to keep this aired out. Door opens easily. The lock on the door makes it easy to close in my skittish Guinea pigs so I can open the top and catch them to bring them back I to the house. I really like the looks of this little house. It was so quick and some to put together. Even came with a screwdriver. I did not need any extra tools at all.

This thing is solid. It is real solid wood, looks good, smells good, and the pup loves it. We got this for our German Shepherd and he loves it. It is very sturdy, the roof is slanted and made with real roofing so it is sufficiently weatherproof. The pup likes hanging out on the roof for better vantage points but it is large enough and roomy enough to where he can walk in and turn around and lay down. He can hang his head out the door or hide in the corner if he doesn't want to be disturbed. We also bought the insulation kit for the winter here in Washington. It fits snugly and we were still able to fit a nice memory foam mattress in there for him and he still has room to go in and relax. The bottom of the house is slatted wood so if there was no bed or anything the pup would be on wood and getting any wind drafts still. It is nice that it is raised as well because you can leave it outside and it will not get swamped on the ground and ruin the wood. The feet are plastic which helps with that. I recommend this to all. We did not screw the roof into the house since the insulation kit goes in and out via the roof but it is heavy enough to sit on there sturdy and not move whatsoever.

I love this doghouse. Assembly was a breeze, it's super cute, and very functional. I love that I can just lift the top to take out/put in the bedding. Dog loves it too. Couldn't be happier with this purchase!!
